The artistic set designer
(Vee) Why were you having that heated fracas with the trendy young Artistic Designer Gerry Scribbling?
(Chip) ‘I am outraged. You know that I was specifically engaged by the new circus management to design the internal presentation sets for the circus productions. Sets to excite and overwhelm the public and to move the visual art of circus into 21st century. Right?
(Vee) ‘I know and it all looks tremendous. Dancing lights and water spouts around the central band-stand that are timed to the selected musical score. The band is housed in this magical Aladdins Cave vision of jewels draping the walls that surely would have amazed the late Cecil B De Mille. Cascading light effects travelling through the main King Pole masts to the tent top and this huge cinema sized screen showing the ever changing artworks of the show vehicles as they endlessly pass across to enthral the audience. I fail to understand why he is concerned. But, let me have a guess, the Artistic Director wishes to put circus acts and artistes in the front of it all?
(Chip) ‘So, you have had experience of this complete moron too?
