Bridlington Free Press for our special show for CLIC Sargent at The Spa Theatre
Our local Free Press newspaper gave us excellent cover for our pending slapstick show at the newly refurbished Spa Theatre for CLIC Sargent. As you see this major page cover was about the family’s summer season at the old Rhyl Pavilion in 1953 and my personal school days. Over the many years I have supplied promotional details to local papers for various shows employers and events I have always found that interest would be generated by facts of nostalgia. I do think the puplic are most interested. It seems unfortunate that modern circus promotions regard the past as rather Old Hat and never seem to refer to it much. Our show at the Spa was a full house with £1,500 donated to the charity.(The Sandow Sisters can be seen at the rear of the photo top. The event would be – as you see – the grand finally of the show).
Our daughter Nancy (Fizzy Pop in the show!) walked the Inca Trail in Peru for the Charity to a height of 12,000 ft to raise a great £3,000. Again, we thank the Free Press for this copy.
