The west end shows join in fiscal harmony
A syndicate is formed by 27 London show producers to form one single mutual marketing and seat selling promotion. they agree that the seat price must be the same for all the productions whether or not one show may match another or the cast numbers are the same be the theatres big or small. the Result, some shows do much better than others because the seat price matches that production whilst other small shows are losing badly because the public do not wish to pay the too higher price. The losers then want to reduce the seat pricing but are not allowed to under this joint rigid agreement so are granted loans from the major members of the syndicate, plus interest, to fund the losing shows. the artistes/actors must take salary reductions to repay the loans or must draw on personal savings. The managers are alright because their salaries are guaranteed. Further, the losers are not allowed to leave the syndicate. the motto is; everything under rigid order!
